adalaide is 3 {part 2}
lyla is two!
our little lyla bug turned two this sunday. two. TWO! i’m not sure who gave her permission to have a birthday, but it most certainly wasn’t me. on saturday we celebrated lyla, her baby cousin, auntie, uncle and gigi. they all have birthdays within a week! we had the yummiest brunch and the best time hanging out with our family.
on sunday we went out for brunch after church with my parents. the girls were pretty stoked about getting bacon two days in row.
we came home for naps and the little birthday girl woke up with a really bad flu. it was soooooooooo sad to see her like that, especially on her special day. i tried to coax her into opening her gifts, but she wasn’t too into it.
she just wanted to be held. so we spent the rest of the night (and the next day too) snuggling in a way that she would only allow while on her deathbed. it was bittersweet.
then adalaide and i got sick too. and that was just plain bitter.
happy birthday, to the most squeezable little two-year- old in all the land! we love you and all your crazy ways!

easter
we had a really great easter this year. i started off the day with all my favorite babies and toddlers in the nursery at church. it was an exciting day in there with all the new faces visiting, and the ridiculous cuteness of baby boys in bow ties. but more than in anything, it was so neat to begin the day by remembering the simple truths of what easter is all about. we all took a nap and then went over to brian’s parents for an egg hunt, yummy dinner, and lots of fun with our cousins. it was a great day and i have too many photos to show it.
life lately
daddy went on a mission trip to Honduras. he was gone for 8 days, and we missed him like crazy. finley cried for hours the night he left. so sweet.
snow on the first day of spring.
the snow melted quickly and the sun has been out. we’ve been walking and riding, and playing, and digging the days away.
loved our easter eggs this year (we used food coloring rather than a dye kit)
our mole hills are the bane of my existence, but the girls love having some dirt to play in.

adalaide is three (part 1)
we had the best time celebrating adalaide turning three. we kicked things off with a little party for her family and friends.
we had more treats later that night with daddy.
the next night we went out on her birthday date- just her and mommy and daddy. i can’t say enough how much they love doing this, and it’s really fun for us too! she chose to have dinner and red robin (shocker) and got to pick out a little gift afterwards (a princess sticker book).

valentine’s day
today hasn’t exactly gone as planned. we’ve had sickness in the house for…. i don’t even know how long. i’ve lost track. needless to say, there were no decorations this year. no homemade cards. i didn’t even get around to putting together the little treat boxes i bought. we did, however, start the day off with pancakes and pink whip cream.
and a coffee delivery. yay, and yay!
but, then a certain 5 year old started sassing a little too much, and had to have a very sad consequence. she’d be missing out on the vday party at my mom’s house. it was very upsetting. adalaide headed out to the celebration alone, and even though finley has gotten on with her day, it feels kinda off in the house.
^^^^^^these pictures are not posed. her and this doll are inseparable. kinda makes me wish she could have a baby sibling
could you not just eat those toes!
hope your day is full of lots of love. and that the the rest of ours will be too
adalaide’s loving:
last night i was laying in bed with adalaide, tucking her in. she was kissing my forehead over and over, and being oh-so-sweet. out of the blue she said:
‘i love mommy. and tabouli. and i love caprese. and watching the cooking show. and going night-night in you bed. and i love god, and daddy, and finley, and lyla. and i love going like dis (snuggles in closer to my face)’.
one to remember, for sure.
