{three}

Our first baby turned THREE on friday! We celebrated her birthday with 7 of her friends, and their families, at Jubilee Farm. If you live in the Seattle area, you know that the weather this weekend couldn’t have been more gorgeous. Hallelujah! We had lots of fun going for a hay ride  out to the patch, picking pumpkins, doing a hay maze, and having a picnic lunch in the sunshine.

finley had lots of fun helping me make these delicious treats for the favor bags.

party hats!

i’m sure i’ll think this every birthday, but i CANNOT believe she’s three!

going country

Brian purchased our home while we were dating, not knowing that we would end up living there, and certainly not knowing that our first little one was just around the corner. We moved into the house after we got married, and i wasn’t too keen on the area initially. Brian told me to give it a year, and if I still wasn’t loving it, we could talk about relocating. A year passed, we made tons of great friends in the area, and we worked hard remodeling things here and there. I made peace with where we lived, but part of my heart always longed {i hate the word longed, but i can’t think of another one} to be living out in the country. For so many different reasons, I love the country. As I’ve gotten older and added little ones into the mix, I’ve been feeling the pull even more.

Problem was, my husband wasn’t on board. Not even a little bit.

Until now. On our recent road trip, he blurted out that he wanted to move the country. He started spouting off all these thoughts and ideas about why we should move, the dream house he would build for us, and the life we could give our children. I was blown away by his change of heart. Seriously, if you know him, you understand what a HUGE and SHOCKING turn of events this is.

So, now we’ve been checking out properties in the country. We think we might have found “the one”. There are still several different things that we would have to figure out before it actually happens.  But that’s okay. We’re on the same page, and that’s the first {and most important}step!

We’d like to find some renters for our house, so if you know of anyone who might be interested pass along our information. It’s a 4 bedroom, 2 bath, with a newly remodeled kitchen and basement, and a huge yard. I know I’m biased, but i think it’s a darling house.

So yeah. Crazy, exciting, scary things going on here. We’ll keep you posted…

summer fun

can you imagine a more beautiful place to kick up your feet?
pickin’ berries, swimming, horseback riding, picnics at the park…can’t get much better.
and best of all, i’m an auntie to another precious boy. that makes 3 babies in 5 months! hooray!

strawberry picking

When I was born my mom started a daycare so that she could stay home with me and make some money at the same time. 28 years later, she’s still doing it. I loved growing up with all the other kids around, and now my daughters get to enjoy it every now and then too. This morning we went strawberry picking.

Finley absolutely adores all her “big kid friends”
they taught her which strawberries to pick
of course she had to taste them
lots of fun running up and down the rows
if only they could be a little more outgoing :)
thanks for inviting us along, mom!

the girls

……….
Adalaide turns four months old today. In some ways it feels like time has flown by, and in some ways I can’t remember what life was like without her. She is extremely laid back, happy to just sit back and take in all the craziness around her. Shortly after she turned 2 months old she started sleeping through the night, and getting into a nice daytime routine with longer awake times and longer naps.

She loves to snuggle, and buries her head in your neck or armpit whenever she can. She smiles all the time, and gets so excited when someone stops to engage her. She is showing zero interest in rolling over, and isn’t too keen on sitting her bumbo for more than a few minutes. She is laughing, cooing, and making all sorts of adorable sounds. She loves bath time. She’s not a huge eater. She likes to be swaddled, and swaddled tight.
I recently did the math and figured out that finley has passed the 2 1/2 year mark. crazy! that girl is a dynamic little thing. sometimes shy and cautious, but mostly outgoing and silly. she loves to be the center of attention. she loves making us laugh. and she really, truly is hilarious. she has a memory that is unbelievable, especially for places. she has started a reading program and is picking it up pretty quickly.
she loves to play outside. loves playing with older kids. loves to be a helper in the kitchen. loves to dance and listen to music-currently obsessed with taylor swift #6. She loves to do art {recently drew her first recognizable face} and to play with playdough.
we’re working on sharing, having her listen and obey us {the first time}, getting her to pick up her stuff when she’s done, and to use a kind voice {my greatest annoyance is her naughty yell}.

She is all about routine, especially at bedtime. When we tuck her in we have to say the same things every night: happy valentines day, happy easter, no more crying, dream happy thoughts, no dogs, and no gorillas. If you forget one part she will remind you. Don’t ask me why these things stuck with her, but for some reason they have, and brian and i laugh about it every single night.
she loves her baby sister, and has had very little jealousy issues. i think once adalaide is a little older and starts to steal the attention spotlight it might be another story though.
I can’t believe how fast time is flying by. Since I’m terrible at doing baby books, i want to at least document
these memories here.

6.12.10

Today is saturday and brian is working. BOO! But, for a saturday without daddy around it shaped up to be a pretty darn good one.

we played in the pool
baby was her usual happy, smiley self
and this one was pretty cute too
chocolate chip cookie for the little miss and an iced latte for me
precious little toes got to see the light of day
lots for her curious little eyes to take in
a nice long nap in the sun
a cute little ruffled patootie
lots, and lots, and lots of bubbles. which makes big sister laugh a lot.
hope you enjoyed the beautiful day too!

pictures with mommy

Looking through photo albums, i realized that i have TONS of pictures with my first baby and approximately two with little adalaide. so…. we took some pictures together this weekend. they definitely look “jcpenny-ish” but, it’s better than nothing.

Finley spent the weekend out with Mimi. Of course we missed her very much, but i did enjoy how quiet and clean our house was. I had all sorts of plans for how I would relax while she was away, but instead I spent hours cleaning. Shocking, i know. There was just something so rewarding about cleaning and knowing that it would stay that way, at least for a little while. I thoroughly enjoyed the extra snuggle time with adalaide, and we made a significant dent in our dvr’d shows. thanks mom!
.
We ended the weekend at one of our favorite parks. We had just planned on playing at the park, but Finley noticed that the sprinkler park was up and running for the first time this season. She has looked forward to this all year and talks about the water park all the time. We hadn’t brought a swimsuit so she rolled up her jeans and her sleeves, and what started out as getting her toes wet quickly turned into full on running through the sprinklers. She ran around squealing and chasing the other kids, pretty much having more fun that i have ever seen her have.  It was the perfect end to our holiday weekend.
