i made my mark

Everyone always says that Finley looks like Brian. That’s a great thing. Obviously, I think Brian is an attractive person and I’m thankful Finley is growing up with his genes. But, I mean..I carried her around for 10 months. I’d like at least a little credit every now and then. I had my moment of glory this weekend as we looked through my old baby pictures. Recognize those eyes with the bags underneath?? I do! I made my mark!! Sadly, all Brian’s baby pictures were destroyed. But he doesn’t need anymore affirmation anyways.

Update on Finley

Finley’s loves:
-her “Mr. sun” toy-upon inspection we realized he is wearing lipstick and blush-oh well
-kissing mama and papa’s face
-biting fingers
-pulling hair (even a bun doesn’t provide protection)
-chewing on books
-talking (happy screaming)
-dancing to the beatles
-sleeping swaddled-do they make swaddle blankets for 2 year olds??
-getting a hold of adult things, ie cell phones, remotes, camera, etc..
-falling asleep to her artificial noise maker set to rain
-her sleeping wedge-which she has already outgrown if I’m being honest!
-playing with her new bath toys
-being sung to
-when Papa walks in the door
-her special blanket

-going to church and listening to Mama and Papa sing songs

Finley does NOT love:
-taking her medicine
-the bright sunshine-is she a vampire?
-wearing socks
-when strangers hold her
-when her nap is postponed/too short- WATCH OUT!
-when Mama takes a shower-I’ve resorted to taking one with the curtain open so she can see me

Kissing Papa and pulling his hair
Enjoying her bath toys.

here we go

We knew it was only a matter of time before Finley began falling, crashing, and banging her way through life. We’ve done what we can to protect her from harms way-I’ve cushioned her play area with about 30 blankets! Now that she’s sitting up unassisted she’s teetered back and forth causing her mother to hold her breath. Last night the inevitable happened and she fell sideways banging her face/head on one of her favorite (hard-of course) toys. She started screaming immediately, and surprisingly I was somewhat unfazed by her first injury. Her Papa however, was shaken up by the incident. He declared, “I’m not okay with this”-I think he was referring to her new mobility, which undoubtedly means many boo boos and tears in the future. I was okay this time, but will I be okay when there is blood, cuts, bumps and bruises?? My guess is no.
Moments after the fall, she had already forgiven her toy for hurting her.

Other news: Finley woke up 9 times ( i counted) last night between 9-8! My guess is that those dreaded top teeth are on their way. This should make the biting mommy game even more exciting!

It’s nights like this that make me SOOOOO thankful that I don’t have to get up and go to work.

hockey game

This weekend we went to a hockey game with our friends Lindsey and Jeremy. We’ve only been out without Finley a few times so we really enjoyed the adult time. Lindsey and I somehow managed to talk about stuff other than the babies and Brian enjoyed acting crazy as usual. How does he become best friends with people where ever we go?

Travis and Jaime’s Wedding

This weekend my dear friend Jaime married Travis at the Januik Winery. I can’t think of any other way to describe the winery than “cool”. We had so much fun mingling, eating, and toasting that we didn’t even get around to dancing! Check out the album for more pics from the night…
