our first project

I just sat down to upload some pictures from the last few weeks, but something went wrong and the pictures got lost. I can’t find them anywhere, and they automatically delete from my camera. I’ve made it this far in my pregnancy without shedding a single hormonal tear, but that’s all it took. There were some really cute ones!!! I’m hoping my computer savvy husband can work a miracle! So since those pics are gone, I thought I’d post a picture of one of our first home projects, and give my amazing husband a shout out!!
This area is in the hallway between the kitchen/dining room, finley’s room, and the stairway to the downstairs. It used to have upper cabinets and then just an empty space below. Naturally, the space below became an area where we piled up junk. It wasn’t working and it certainly wasn’t cute, so we put in some lower cabinets and upper shelving and now we have a space that is so amazing. Seriously, this little space has become a lifesaver. It has our computer, mail and bill organizer, decorating stuff, extra kitchen appliances, finley’s coloring stuff. you name it. and if we ever have a big party we can clear it off and use it as a buffet for serving since it’s right off the dining room. i love it and i LOVE my husband for improving our house one project at a time!

**i’m hoping this post will help brian feel extra loved and appreciated as he is on the last stretch of painting our upstairs and feeling a smidge “over” these projects.

a special video announcement

This didn’t go exactly how I planned it. And I really wish I would have taken 30 seconds to tidy up the house, or at least move the towel from where finley peed. but, oh well! it was a VERY special and exciting moment for our family that we’d like to share with all of you.

i’m just bored…

i don’t really have anything interesting to say. i just thought i’d update you on our oh-so exciting afternoon.

Papa started working on the deck today. Minutes into the project he stumbled upon his worst nightmare. Dry rot.

Day 1 of deckfest 08′ was spent fixing our rotting entryway. Major bummer, but nothing this handy man couldn’t fix…

Finley and I spent the afternoon with my friend Hillary and her sweet little babe. We attempted to go to the new H&M. hahahaha. I say “attempted” because the store was guarded with security and people were let in one by one. Apparently, we didn’t get the memo that it’s opening day and thus the store was majorly overcrowded. After spending MANY minutes looking for parking, weaving through an insane crowd looking for the store, and then finding out we would not be perusing darling little baby clothes we redeemed the trip by getting some caffeine. What a waste.

We spent the rest of the day listening to a lot of ruckus going on outside. Finley was intrigued by all the noises and periodically cruised up to the door to check out the happenings.

And despite WWII going on outside, Finley is sleeping like a little angel. Is there anything sweeter than a sleeping baby?

cars, gymnastics, and a finley update

This weekend the sun finally came out and we were able to enjoy an evening out in our yard. When blowing bubbles and watching the pinwheel got old I said “hey do we have any outdoor toys in the garage?” After several minutes Brian comes running out with this car, which is probably intended for a child much old than finley. We took her for a spin around the yard, but she wasn’t sure what to think about. Brian and I sure got a chuckle out if it though. Then Brian got a bright idea and he wanted to see if he could fit in it. Long story short..he can. It was quite hilrious, and even more hilarious to watch him squeeze out if it. As if the wheels weren’t wonky enough before!

After the car fiasco, we decided to have a gymnastics competition. Brian is actually pretty good for being the world’s most inflexible person. Mysteriously, the video of me was deleted while he was looking through the photos on the camera. I think he was just intimidated by my straight lines and flawless landing.

So, now that Finley is a whoppin 8 months old I thought I’d share some of her new talents and quirks.

She:
-learned to clap
-made it through a whole church service in the nursery with no crying!!!
-loves to crawl straight to the bathroom on a hunt for her favorite bath toys
-can walk while holding onto the couch
-leans in for kisses
-has become extremely cuddly
-loves to play with paper
-loves to eat ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, especially if its mixed with mama’s homemade yogurt
-is a real terror on the changing table
-has taken to waking up quite early in the morning
-gets super excited when papa walks in the door at night
-she loves to have her face cleaned after eating-no joke
-loves to stand up at the t.v. stand and play with all the buttons
-is staying up for much longer periods of time
-is phasing out of her evening nap-unfortunately now dinner is not nearly as easy to prepare!
-said goodbye to the green hospital binky and now prefers a much prettier one in my opinion
-loves playing peek-a-boo behind her blanket

Anywho, thats the happenings with our little bon bon. This age is so much fun (aren’t they all) and she certainly keeps us on our toes!

she loves her papa so much

Last night Finley took a late nap so we weren’t surprised when her bedtime came and went. The three of us ended up hanging out in our bed, where we were blessed with her chatter, snuggles, and smiles. She spent nearly 10 minutes exploring Papa’s beard, perhaps she too wonders if there is stuff hiding in there! For those who find interest in her babbling (mimi) there is a video below…
