cutting teeth and having a cold at the same time is hard work…
for everyone!
i never, ever, ever thought i would enjoy gardening as much as i have. and what’s most surprising is that i actually enjoyed the laborious parts of it-weeding, thinning, weeding, pruning, weeding, watering. there were many nights this summer that brian yelled from the house how about you come help me put the kids to bed. you can’t stay out here all night! i certainly never thought i’d be lectured about spending too much time in my garden. ha! And the garden has been equally fun for the kids. they have a little area that is their spot to dig, make mud pies or veggie soup, and it’s really their favorite thing to do outside.
of course, the best part of all is the food. this year we had: lettuce (oh, so much lettuce) carrots, green beans, cucumber, peas, and 3 varieties of tomatoes. our tomatoes are currently going CRAZY so we’re eating lots of caprese and bruschetta. because heaven knows there is no better combination than tomato, mozzarella, and basil. right? right! actually the tomatoes are really delicious straight from the vine.
this year i learned a lot, so i’m already dreaming about next years garden…
This weekend we went to Remlinger Farms (thank you, thank you canady’s!) I cannot begin to tell you how much fun it was. This was the first time our girls have done rides, and it was beyond adorable.
their new thing is holding hands everywhere they go. my heart melts.
we lost lyla for a few minutes in the hay maze. she’s a quick one, that girl.
thanks again Canady family! we had the best time. and of course there’s a few more photos in my album.
It’s become a summer tradition to head back to one of our favorite spots by our old house. It’s definitely not one of Seattle’s prettiest beaches, but we LOVE the little streams, and logs, and trails, and the fact that it’s never crowded. The girls are really into gymnastics (after watching the olympics) so they mostly wanted me to take pictures of them walking, running, and jumping off the logs. till next year…..
(more in my album)
these photos make me so happy! we were beyond fortunate to be able to spend 4 weeks over there with friends and family, minus the week i spent with the just the girls. i loved getting away from life’s distractions (internet, tv, social commitments, errands, chores, etc) and being able to really spend quality time with my kids like i never have before. it was good for my soul-and most definitely the girl’s too. they haven’t stopped talking about memories from chelan and when we can go back again (girls trip in sept?!!!).
typically, we’re there for a week at a time, so it’s all about soaking up every moment of sun, pool, and lake time. having spent so much time there, we were able to branch out and do things we’ve never done before. we went for coffee runs and morning walks, we went blueberry picking, and played at the park everyday. we got ice cream almost every night and went for drives looking at pretty orchards and dream houses. we found new fun spots to play at the lake, and went and made our very own lake chelan tee-shirts (which was something i did every year growing up). we visited with friends who were also in town, and hit up the waterslides-which was the girl’s favorite thing of all. we pretty much had the best time ever, and i have a million and one photos to prove it.
